Dog emoji: 🐕, 🐶 and the rest
🐶 (dog face) is the friendly cartoon puppy most people use for pets and "good boy" messages. 🐕 shows the whole dog, 🐩 is a poodle, and 🐺 wolf and 🦊 fox cover the wild relatives. Add 🦴 bone or 🐾 paw prints for a dog-themed bio.
🦮 guide dog and 🐕🦺 service dog arrived in 2019 as part of a set of accessibility emoji. The guide dog wears a harness for people who are blind or have low vision. The service dog is 🐕 joined with a safety vest 🦺, so older devices may show two emoji instead of one.
Dog and jackal hieroglyphs
Ancient Egyptian writing has several dog-like signs. 𓃡 (Gardiner E14) is a slender hunting dog, 𓃥 (E17) is a jackal, and 𓃢 (E15) is a jackal lying down, the animal form of Anubis, the god of embalming and the dead.
These signs make striking dog symbols for usernames and bios, but they need a hieroglyph font, so check how they look on your device. Find the full set of animal signs on the Egyptian symbols page.
Text puppies for bios and chats
Text dogs are kaomoji built from letters and symbols. ▼・ᴥ・▼ uses black triangles for floppy ears and the letter ᴥ as a snout, while ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა uses a Gujarati digit and a Georgian letter as round ears. They stay in your text color and work where emoji are not allowed, like some game names.
The character 犬 is the kanji for dog in Japanese, where it is read inu, and it means dog in Chinese too. For more faces see kaomoji, or pair a dog with the cat symbol for a pets bio.
