How to type symbols on your keyboard

Windows: hold Alt and type the code on the number pad, such as Alt+3 for ♥ or Alt+0169 for ©. You can also press Win+. and open the symbols tab. Mac: press Control+Command+Space for the Character Viewer, or use Option shortcuts like Option+G for ©. iPhone and Android: copying from this page is the quickest way. See every code on the Alt codes page.

Text style or emoji style

Some symbols, like ♥ ☀ ✈ ♌, have two looks: a flat text symbol and a colorful emoji. Phones often turn them into emoji. Set Symbol style to Text and the site copies them with an invisible marker (U+FE0E) that keeps them flat, which is how the “♌︎” many people search for is made. Choose Emoji for the colorful version.

Symbols for websites and documents

Every symbol has its Unicode code point, HTML code and CSS code one click away in the ⋯ menu. Use the HTML code (for example ♥ or ♥) in web pages and emails, and the CSS code in a content property. The HTML symbol codes page lists them all.
