Mountain emoji
⛰︎ (mountain) came in Unicode 5.2 and can show either as plain text or as an emoji, depending on the style you copy. 🏔︎ is a snow-capped mountain, 🗻 is Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak at 3,776 meters, and 🌋 is a volcano. 🌄 shows a sunrise over mountains.
Hikers and travelers use these with 🥾 🏕︎ ⛺︎ for trips, and 🧗 for climbing. A single ⛰︎ in a bio quietly says "outdoors person".
Letters that look like mountains
ѧ is the Cyrillic small letter little yus, a historic letter for a nasal vowel in Old Church Slavonic that modern Russian no longer uses. Its two slopes look like a pair of peaks, and the capital Ѧ makes a bigger mountain. ᨒ is the letter "la" of the Buginese script from Sulawesi, Indonesia, and its zigzag reads as a small range.
⋀ and ∧ are the logical "and" signs from math, and ▲ △ are plain triangles (more on the triangle symbol page). The kanji 山 means mountain and started as a drawing of three peaks.
Make a mountain border
Repeat a peak for a skyline (ѧѧѧѧ or ⋀⋀⋀⋀), or mix in trees from the tree symbol page: ᨒ ↟ ⛰︎ ↟ ᨒ. Add a sun or moon above for a full landscape. Letters like ᨒ need a font for their script, so check your post on another device before you share it.
In Microsoft Word, type 26F0 and press Alt + X for ⛰︎. For the emoji, search the emoji keyboard for "mountain", or press Windows + . on a PC and Control + Command + Space on a Mac. Snowy peaks also go well with the winter symbols.
