The ring emoji ๐
๐ RING was added in Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and is drawn on most platforms as a gold band with a large diamond. It stands for engagements, weddings, anniversaries and proposals, and "๐ she said yes" is a classic announcement. Pair it with ๐ WEDDING (a chapel with a heart), ๐ฐ and ๐คต for the couple, and ๐ฅ for the toast.
Because ๐ is an emoji, it always shows in color. If you want a ring that matches your text, use the marriage symbol โญ or a simple circle like โฏ.
Genealogy ring symbols
Unicode includes a small set of family-tree symbols. โญ MARRIAGE SYMBOL shows two interlocking rings and marks a wedding, as in "โญ 1998". โฎ DIVORCE SYMBOL is the same pair with a line through it, โฏ marks an unmarried partnership, and the small circle โฌ is used for an engagement.
These come from genealogy books and family trees, but they also make elegant details for wedding websites and invitations, such as "Anna โญ Ben".
How to type a ring symbol
On iPhone and Android, search "ring" in the emoji keyboard. On Windows, press Win + . (period); on a Mac, press Control + Command + Space and search for "ring" or "marriage". In Microsoft Word, type 26AD and press Alt + X for โญ. In Discord, :ring: gives ๐.
Looking for other kinds of rings? The last group has ring shapes, from โฏ and โญ๏ธ to the ringed planet ๐ช and the ring buoy ๐. For sparkle to go with the ring, see diamond symbols; for love, see heart symbols and the infinity symbol.
