Red apple ๐ and green apple ๐
๐ RED APPLE and ๐ GREEN APPLE are the two apple emoji. ๐ is the classic gift for a teacher, so it shows up in back-to-school posts and education accounts. It also stands for healthy eating ("an apple a day"), for New York City, nicknamed the Big Apple, and for the apple in the story of Isaac Newton and gravity.
๐ suggests something fresh and a little sour, like a Granny Smith. In stories, the apple is the poisoned fruit in Snow White and the forbidden fruit of Eden, though the Bible never says what fruit it was. For Rosh Hashanah, apples dipped in honey ๐๐ฏ wish everyone a sweet new year.
Is there an Apple logo symbol?
The Apple logo is not a standard character. Apple puts it at U+F8FF in its own fonts, a Private Use Area code point with no official meaning. On a Mac with a US keyboard you can type it with Option + Shift + K, but on Windows, Android and many websites it shows up as an empty box, a different symbol or nothing at all.
That is why it is not listed on this page. If your readers might not use Apple devices, write "Apple" or use ๐ instead.
Mac keyboard symbols โ โฅ โง โ
Mac menus show shortcuts with symbols: โ Command, โฅ Option, โง Shift, โ Control, โช Caps Lock, โซ Delete and โ Escape. Copy them to write shortcuts in guides and posts, like โC to copy, โV to paste or โฅโโ to force quit an app.
The Command key symbol โ is officially named PLACE OF INTEREST SIGN. It was chosen for the original Macintosh from a symbol dictionary, where it marked sights and points of interest. Older Mac keyboards printed an apple next to it, which is why many people still call it the "Apple key". More keyboard arrows are on the arrow symbol page.
