The classic envelope โ๏ธ and its variants
โ๏ธ ENVELOPE is one of the original Dingbats, in Unicode since version 1.1. It is a plain text symbol, but some phones show it as a colorful emoji; set Symbol style to Text before copying if you want it flat.
Unicode 7.0 added a family of envelopes that have no emoji version and always follow your text color: ๐ the back of an envelope, ๐ a stamped envelope, ๐ an envelope with lightning (express mail), ๐ a flying envelope (sent and on its way) and ๐ a pen over a stamped envelope (write a letter). Font support is thinner for these, so check them where you paste.
Love letters and red envelopes
๐ is the love letter: an envelope sealed with a heart. Use it for Valentine's Day, wedding invitations, thank-you notes and any message sent with love. Pair it with heart symbols or bow symbols for a cute card.
๐งง is the red envelope. In China and other East Asian cultures, money gifts are given in red envelopes at Lunar New Year, weddings and birthdays, so ๐งง means good wishes and a little luck.
Envelope designs for invitations and notes
Mix โ๏ธ with sparkles, hearts and bows to make a "you've got a letter" line for party invites, pen pal posts or a Discord channel like โ๏ธโletters. For email addresses and contact sections, the mail symbol page has ready-made lines.
To type โ๏ธ, write 2709 in Word and press Alt + X, or use ✉ in HTML. On a Mac, press Control + Command + Space and search for "envelope"; on Windows, press Win + ..
