What the Taurus symbol ♉︎ shows
The Taurus glyph ♉︎ is the simplest possible picture of a bull: a circle for the head with a curved pair of horns resting on top. It names the constellation Taurus, the Bull, which Greek myth often ties to Zeus taking the form of a white bull to carry off Europa.
The real constellation is easy to find in Northern Hemisphere winter skies. The bright orange star Aldebaran marks the bull's eye, and the Pleiades, the small star cluster also called the Seven Sisters, sit on its shoulder. That is why some people pair ♉︎ with sparkles ✨︎.
Taurus dates, element and planet
Taurus runs from about April 20 to May 20 in the tropical zodiac, and the boundary days can move by one from year to year. It is an earth sign, next to ♍︎ Virgo and ♑︎ Capricorn, and a fixed sign that sits in the middle of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
Venus rules Taurus, and it rules ♎︎ Libra too. Its glyph ♀︎, a circle above a small cross, doubles as the Venus symbol and the female sign.
Taurus look-alikes
♉︎ is easy to confuse with ☿, the symbol of Mercury: both put horns on a circle, but Mercury adds a cross underneath. Do not swap it for ♁ (Earth) or ♀︎ (Venus) either, which have no horns at all.
If you want the animal rather than the sign, there is no bull emoji, so 🐂 (ox) is the usual choice, with 🐃 (water buffalo) as an alternative.
Using ♉︎ in bios and typing it
Phones like to turn ♉︎ into a purple emoji. With Symbol style set to Text, this page adds an invisible U+FE0E so the sign stays flat; choose Emoji for the colorful square. For bios, try ♉︎ Taurus ♀︎, 🐂 ♉︎ 05.05 with your birthday, or soft combos like ♡ ♉︎ ♡.
To type it, search "Taurus" in the emoji picker (Windows key + . on Windows or Control + Command + Space on a Mac), or in Word type 2649 and press Alt + X. All twelve signs are on the zodiac sign symbols page.
