Droplet emoji or text droplet?
💧 is officially named "droplet" and was added in Unicode 6.0. It is an emoji, so it is always blue. 🌢 (black droplet) is its plain text cousin from Unicode 7.0: it takes the color of your text, which suits minimal designs, but older fonts may show a box instead.
💦 is officially the "splashing sweat symbol", but people use it for any splash of water, sweat or hard work, so check the context before you send it. 🩸 is a drop of blood, used for blood donation and health topics, and 🫗 shows liquid pouring from a glass.
What the water drop means
A drop can mean water, rain, tears, freshness or hydration. Weather apps use it for rain and humidity, skincare posts use it for moisture, and 💧 next to a reminder like "drink water" is a classic in bios and group chats.
Older sign systems have water symbols too: alchemists drew the element water as a downward triangle 🜄, the Egyptian hieroglyph 𓈗 shows ripples of water, and the kanji 水 means water. For waves and the sea, see the ocean wave symbol page; for rain clouds, see the cloud symbol.
How to type a water drop

Teardrops in text faces are a different trick: kaomoji like (╥﹏╥) use the box-drawing character ╥ as streaming tears. More faces like it are in the kaomoji collection.
